Melting Point
Overview:
Melting Point is a fast paced 2D platformer focused on downward vertical movement. The game is set in an underground facility designed to test weather controlling experiments. You play as Experiment 12, a sentient ice block who must escape from the facility after something malfunctions and the temperature skyrockets. In danger of melting, Experiment 12 must go deeper into the facility to escape the heat and find a way out.
Each level of the game is a floor, and the goal is to get to the door at the bottom before you melt. Over time, the temperature goes up, which can be seen by multiple indicators on screen. If the temperature reaches 32˚, you will melt and have to restart the floor.
Throughout your escape, you'll run into bouncy purple slime, falling dirt blocks, spikes, flamethrowers, flaming enemies that you'll have to put out with water, and much more. Every level introduces new challenges and snowcones to collect, plus there are multiple difficulty levels so that you can further challenge yourself after your first run of the game.
This game was made for the Level Up Circle: Beginner Jam #1 with the theme "Temperature is Key".
Controls:
You can move Experiment 12 left and right with the A and D keys respectively. and press the Space key to jump. In midair, you can press the S key or the Space key again to slam down into the ground, classic ice block style. This can be used to get through green slime, press switches defeat weakened enemies, and to increase your downward falling speed in the air. You can press the W key to enter the doors at the bottom of each floor, and you can select options on the main menu with a mouse.

Excellent! I love that you continued introducing new mechanics all throughout the game, the amount of gameplay that you did was very impressive. The gameplay is very smooth and satisfying. I managed to beat the final boss and it was a great challenge. I'd love to see any future versions of this game that are added. :)
I really like the art! The gameplay is interesting, definitely fun.
It has been brought to my attention that there is an unlikely issue that prevents players from getting through the text at the beginning of the game. If you encounter this issue then all you have to do is reload the game so that it will work. You won't lose any progress as its at the very beginning before any gameplay. I am also looking into what is causing the issue and will fix it if I can.
You either press down while in the air or press space again while in the air to do a slamming move that will let you go through it :)
Very Awesome!! I like the jumping through the green stuff, the music is nice, very cool effects, keep it up! I noticed the temp only goes to 10 even when dead, maybe adding a check point, or I may have not made it to one if there was one. :D Loving it!
Thank you! I’ll look into fixing that
Did you mean that the temp counter only appears to go up to 10 for you? I tried to get that to happen for me but it always went up to 60. Perhaps you meant something else and I misunderstood, or maybe it’s a bug that only can get triggered some of the time and I haven’t noticed it yet.
If you can make a web or windows build I would recommend that. since most people can use a browser, that would be even better. I hope that helps, looking forward to playing it if possible.
I’ve been looking into doing that, and that was my original plan, but I am having trouble figuring out how to make a web or windows build. I am currently planning on trying to use a friend’s PC to make this version of the game but I don’t know for sure if that will work, but I hope it does.
You could always use linux if you know how, one of my favorites that I learned. FLOSS OS
Thank you, I ended up finding a way to get it to work as a web build and it should be working now
