Electrobits Completed
As of today, I have released a new and probably last update to Electrobits adding 6 new levels and an ending.
I originally planned on making 20 levels, which I did, but I ended up cutting 4 of them because I felt they were either too similar to previous levels or not up to my standard of quality.
I've added one new item in the last 6 levels called the hat. The hat is a lightning rod like headpiece that an Electrobit can wear to double their height and therefore cover more space in between circuits. I experimented with having two of the same item in one level but the code I used to stop an Electrobit from picking up a second item made this not work correctly and I didn't have the time to fix the issue and design new levels around it.
I also experimented with having the Electrobits start in different places in the level or by having two circuits that you have to complete. This should add a new twist on the last 6 puzzles.
I have also edited the level select screen to display all 16 levels neatly and have changed the function of the back button from taking you back to the title screen to just taking you back to the first page of the level select screen from the second.
While it may not be too long, I'm happy with the game I made and I really like the puzzle mechanics and switching between Electrobits. While I am done with this game, I will certainly explore ideas similar to this at a later point and perhaps will make a larger scale game based on this concept, but I feel like there's not too much I can add with the current framework I have for the game.
With this game and another game I made about switching between cats in parallel states of reality (Paradoxicat), I have started to find an area of games that I like to make and have gotten better at making. I'll definitely be making more puzzle platformers in the future and I hope to make them more refined and expansive than I have so far. With that said, I will most likely go for more of an action platformer in the next game I work on (I already have a rough concept), and this game will not be made for a game jam so I will spend more time on it.
